Boarnstream

The cradle of the ‘Boarncruiser’ is The Boarnstream Boatyard in Jirnsum. This is where refinement of the Boarncruiser concept has been ongoing since 1964. Boarnstream is truly a family business, founded by Henk Hokwerda and now ably assisted by his Daughter Wies Hokwerda, the yard produces highly acclaimed craft and are able to offer a semi customised approach to their interior design

Following the successful New Line series The Boarnstream design team began developing the Boarncruiser Classic Line.

The Boarnstream range now comprises yachts in the 10 to 22 metre range in which design, engineering and quality are all of the highest order.

On its launch, The Retro Line which is the latest addition to the range, was widely acclaimed in all the International Boating press – it’s interior finish is simply fantastic and ground breaking.

The boatyard manages to accommodate the wishes of their enthusiastic clients, many of who are quite taken by the classic lines. Many want to stay aboard for long periods and just sail away, often with the whole of Europe as their chosen area. As well as being very capable sea boats, most are RCD Cat A, these low air draft boats are suitable for accessing all the inland waterways of Europe.

All Boarncruiser yachts are distinguished by their comprehensive range of equipment, leaving the buyer little to wish for. That said though, the inventive designers at Boarnstream do derive pleasure from integrating client’s wishes into the concept in a most surprising and often unique way.

Founder, Henk Hokwerda has been awarded the HISWA Excellence award for 2010. Henk was one of the first builders to combine a GRP superstructure with a steel hull, earning him an international reputation and respect. Chairman of the selection board Ineke Dezentje Hamming said: "The board was unanimous… [Henk] is a creative personality, who's continuously keeping an eye on innovation."

Hokwerda received the HISWA award during the Maritime Awards Gala on November 10 at the Amsterdam Convention Factory in the Netherlands. As part of the award, he will also become an ambassador for the HISWA Holland Marine Industry for one year.
